Your Visit

WHAT ARE THE MUSEUM’S HOURS OF OPERATION?

Morven Museum & Garden is open Wednesdays through Sundays, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The museum is closed on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.


what are the museum’s COVID safety protocols?

You can check our COVID policies at morven.org/guidelines.

You may arrange to have your party of up to 12 guests visit the galleries without any other visitors in the Museum for $200 an hour. Please contact our Museum Shop for details at shop@morven.org or 609-924-8144 x 103.


ARE THERE GUIDED TOURS OF MORVEN’S PERMANENT EXHIBITION?

Tours of the first floor permanent exhibition galleries are offered throughout the day at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. No formal tours are offered during Festival of Trees.


DO YOU OFFER GUIDED TOURS OF THE SECOND FLOOR EXHIBITIONS?

There are no regularly scheduled guided tours of the second floor exhibitions, though special gallery walks and talks are often scheduled throughout the run of an exhibition. See Programs  for more details. Private tours of the museum may be scheduled through the Museum Shop at shop@morven.org or call 609-924-8144 x 103.


DO I NEED A RESERVATION FOR A TOUR?

Tours are first come, first served and do not require a reservation.


DO I NEED TO TAKE A TOUR TO VISIT MORVEN?

No. While you have the option to join one of our docent-led tours of the museum’s first floor, you can also explore our permanent collections, changing exhibitions, and gardens on your own.

DOES MORVEN OFFER A MILITARY DISCOUNT?

As a participating Blue Star museum, Morven offers free admission to active duty military personnel from Memorial Day through Labor Day.


WHERE DO I PURCHASE MY TICKET?

Tickets may be purchased online at www.morven.org/tickets or on site in the Museum Shop, located directly behind the museum.


WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

The Museum Shop accepts cash, most major credit cards, and personal checks.


CAN MY ADMISSION BE APPLIED TOWARDS A MEMBERSHIP?

Yes, the cost of your admission may be applied towards a membership ONLY on the day of your visit. Please note that you must present your original receipt to be eligible.


DO YOU HAVE AN ONLINE SHOP?

Yes, we offer a small sampling of exhibition-related materials and publications in our online shop. Click here to shop.


 

Does my Community Partner pass apply to programs or special events?

Community Partner passes apply to general admission to the Museum and its regular docent-guided tours of the permanent exhibition. Programs and Special Events are subject to capacity restrictions and oftentimes additional fees, and therefore are not covered by Community Partner passes.


IS IT POSSIBLE TO RE-ENTER THE MUSEUM ON THE DAY OF MY VISIT?

Yes, present your ticket and receipt upon reentry.


IS MORVEN MUSEUM & GARDEN WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

Due to the historic nature of the building, the museum is only 80% wheelchair accessible. For additional questions please call Security at 609.924.8144 ext 111


Does Morven have a ‘Lost & Found’?

Yes. If you believe you or someone in your party may have lost something while visiting Morven, please contact Morven’s Visitor Service staff by calling, (609) 924-8144 {ext.111}, or emailing info@morven.org with details about your lost item. 


DOES MORVEN ACCOMMODATE GROUP TOURS?

WHERE IS MORVEN MUSEUM & GARDEN LOCATED?

Morven Museum & Garden is located at 55 Stockton Street in Princeton, New Jersey, just south of downtown Princeton.


IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE ON SITE?

There is free parking on site at Morven.


IS BUS PARKING AVAILABLE?

Bus parking is available for group visits, but Morven must be notified prior to the arrival of the bus.


IS MORVEN ACCESSIBLE BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION?

Yes, Morven is easily accessed by regional rail and bus services.


DO YOU RECOMMEND MORVEN FOR YOUNG CHILDREN?

While the museum is not geared towards young children, families with children of all ages are most welcome to visit Morven.


DOES MORVEN ALLOW STROLLERS?

Morven does not allow strollers in the museum. However, they may be left on the back porch of the museum. Please see the Museum Rules for more details.


DOES MORVEN ALLOW PHOTOGRAPHY?

Photography is permitted on the first floor. No flash, tripods, or selfie sticks are to be used in the museum. Please check with Visitor Services regarding photograph in our changing second floor galleries. Any commercial photography on the property must be authorized by the Museum’s administration. During Festival of Trees in December and early January, you are welcome to take photos of the museum’s interior holiday decorations. Please see the Museum Guidelines for more details.


WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO SEE AND DO IN PRINCETON?

A lot! To name a few worthwhile places, we highly recommend visiting the Princeton University Art Museum, The Historical Society of Princeton, Drumthwacket, Princeton University’s campus, and the Princeton Battlefield State Park. See visitprinceton.org for more options.


DOES MORVEN HAVE A CAFÉ THAT SERVES FOOD OR BEVERAGE?

No, Morven does not serve food or beverage. However, we do welcome and encourage you to spread out a picnic blanket in the gardens or on the grounds. There are umbrella tables in the museum courtyard as well. Downtown Princeton also has plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance of Morven. We also offer a picnic lunch option with garden tours. See Programs menu for details.



About Morven

IS MORVEN MUSEUM & GARDEN STILL THE GOVERNOR’S MANSION?

Although it was New Jersey’s first official Governor’s Mansion, and home to five governors from 1945–1982, Morven is no longer the residence of the governors of New Jersey. The last governor to live in Morven was Brendan Byrne.
