Morven Museum & Garden — 55 Stockton Street, Princeton, NJ

Morven Museum & Garden is pleased to announce the second year of Morven Moves. In line with Morven’s mission of preserving and celebrating authentic stories, “Morven Moves” is an annual program that does so through dance. The inaugural program in 2023 featured New Jersey-based choreographers and dance companies reflecting the rich and diverse communities of the Garden State and presenting genres from contemporary, to flamenco, to dance theater.

As we celebrate Morven’s 20th anniversary as a museum in 2024, Morven Moves will return to the museum’s gardens this time for an evening program. Performances will take place in an open tent in Morven’s Colonial Revival Garden. A dance floor will be provided.

Morven is seeking a diverse range of New Jersey-based choreographers and companies to present dance works at the performance. We ask applicants to submit short works (10 minutes or less) that reflect authentic stories in the Garden State. All genres and disciplines of dance are welcome. BIPOC, AAPI, and LGBTQIA+ artists are strongly encouraged to apply.

Participating choreographers and companies will receive the following benefits:

  • A $250 stipend per accepted work

  • In-house marketing and promotion

  • In-house ticketing

  • Free admission to visit the museum during the development process (July 2024 to September 2024)

  • In-house video and photo documentation

  • One scheduled rehearsal to visit Morven (weather permitting)

The deadline for submission is Monday, June 24, 2024. Accepted applicants will be notified in July 2024.
