Communications Internship

Stipend: $1,000 for the semester

Hours: 14 hours per week (flexible schedule) / 12 - 16 weeks between September and December 2024

Format: Hybrid format - interns may be asked to visit Morven for onsite meetings and events, but the majority of internship hours can be completed remotely.

Description

Morven Museum and Garden in Princeton, NJ seeks a Communications Intern to assist with the museum’s digital media and communications. The intern will report to the Curator of Education and Public Programs.

Internship duties

The Communications Intern will assist Morven staff in building and maintaining the museum’s digital presence. This internship will be responsible for the following:

  • Working across departments to develop, write, and schedule social media content for museum’s Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn accounts

  • Helping to design and prepare both online and print materials for museum activities

  • Supporting program outreach by posting in local and statewide community calendars

  • When onsite, capturing photos and videos of happenings at Morven (exhibitions, events, tours, programs)

  • Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

    • Organizing, filing, and maintaining Morven’s digital archive of promotional photos and materials

    • Assisting with website updates and branding projects

Qualifications

A qualified candidate will be organized and self-motivated. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in both a remote and in-person work environment. Some experience in managing and posting on organizational social media accounts (non-profits, clubs, businesses, etc.) is required. Students interested in communications, museum studies, education, public history, civics, historic preservation, political science, American studies, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
