The Large House in Miniature
December 6, 2006 — September, 2008
This exhibit displays a massive custom-made dollhouse, which recreates a historic Greek-Revival house in Flemington, New Jersey that was built by Mahlon Fisher, an American master of the Greek Revival style. It is named for state Senator George H. Large who purchased the house in 1900. His granddaughter, Jo Talbott, meticulously recreated the mansion and its contents as an extraordinary dollhouse. Talbott began the project to reproduce the Large House in Flemington as a dollhouse in the 1980s. The dollhouse consists of twenty rooms, with each part functioning like a real house. Sections of the dollhouse walls were removed for this exhibition to allow viewing into the dollhouse.
