On Sunday, November 5, we will turn back our clocks by one hour in observation of Daylight Savings. Morven invites you to a special event “turning back the hands of time” with our current exhibition, Striking Beauty: New Jersey Tall Case Clocks, 1730 - 1830. Exhibition advisor, Steve Petrucelli, will offer demonstrations and hands-on opportunities to experience the unique, historic timepieces featured at Morven, literally turning back the clock hands for Daylight Savings.

Tours

Tours of Striking Beauty with Steve will be offered at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and are limited to 10 people per tour. Pre-registration is required to attend the tours. Please use the ticket option on this page to register.

General Admission

For general admission to the museum the day of the event, please visit the museum’s website for ticketing information. Steve will be offering demonstrations throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the exception of the tour times listed above.

Striking Beauty: New Jersey Tall Case Clocks, 1730 - 1830 examines the work of New Jersey clockmakers as they collaborated with cabinetmakers, ran shops, and formed professional partnerships to create beautiful timekeeping pieces. This exhibit includes over 50 tall case clocks, representing almost as many different clockmakers, from both private and public collections.

Steve Petrucelli of Cranbury, NJ received a BS from Lehigh University, an MS and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University. He has presented programs at New Jersey Historical Societies: Burlington, Monmouth, Hunterdon, Trenton as well as NAWCC Regional and National meetings. As the Director of Adams Brown Company, he collaborated with Dr. James Biser Whisker in the publication of books on Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia Clockmakers. He worked with Morven Museum & Garden on the new exhibition, Striking Beauty: New Jersey Tall Case Clocks, 1730–1830.
