Calendula, also called pot marigold, is as beautiful and useful as it is tough. This cold-hardy annual blooms from spring through summer into fall or winter, even after a few frosts, and is drought tolerant and deer resistant. Resina is easy to grow in any soil and any sun, even partial shade. All calendula varieties have medicinal resins, but Resina is off the charts. Oils and salves with her infused flowers heal wounds and aching muscles. Resina is also remarkably drought-tolerant, making her perfect for containers and exceedingly cold-tolerant – you’ll have a few edible calendula flowers to tuck on your holiday salads. A relatively compact plant, not exceeding 2′ tall and wide, Resina is lovely for companion planting as well.
